Cloves

Origin and Form: Cloves are the dried, unopened flower buds of the evergreen clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum), native to the North Moluccas Islands (Spice Islands) in Indonesia. They have a distinctive nail-like shape, which is where their name, derived from the Latin "clavus" (nail), comes from.
